Plot:
Drinking, watching TV and being left alone - Hans has long since lost interest in anything else. Abandoned by his wife and daughter after an infidelity, the grim Hartz IV recipient lives isolated from his environment in a run-down flat and loses himself in self-pity. When he gets up to dispose of the rubbish, he discovers a baby in a rubbish bin. Hans then experiences a feeling long forgotten in his life: being needed. He decides to look after the helpless child. He secretly brings the little girl, whom he henceforth calls "Felizia", into his flat and lovingly looks after her. But despite all his discretion, his neighbors, the Tarsi couple, and his acquaintance, the kiosk owner Wenzel, find out about Hans' new protege. They are initially very skeptical about his plan, but - persuaded by Hans' self-sacrificing care - they are unexpectedly helpful and support him wherever they can. Hans develops a strong bond with little Felizia and would like to keep her with him forever, partly because she reminds him of his lost daughter. But soon the police start looking for the little girl, whose mother is now facing murder charges, and Hans has to make a decision: in favor of the truth or a completely new start for himself and Felizia.
