Gladiator

Rome, 180 A.D. Much to the dismay of Commodus, the arrogant son of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, the dying ruler names Maximus Decimus Meridius, his loyal and victorious general, as his successor and protector of Rome. However, as sedition and murder change the course of history, the embittered rival rewards Rome's hero for his efforts with execution. Now, Maximus is at the mercy of Proximo, a hardened gladiator trainer. But from the vast deserts of North Africa, a new Maximus emerges as a gladiator, determined to hack and slash his way through Mother Rome to confront Commodus, the man who took everything from him.
