Plot:
At the boarding school in the small Bavarian town of Kirchberg, preparations for the Christmas party are in full swing and the third-year students are busy rehearsing their play "The Flying Classroom". The talented author of the play, Johnny (Peter Kraus), is actively supported by his best friend Martin (Peter Tost), the strong and always hungry Matz (Bert Brandt Jr.), the delicate, fearful Uli (Knut Mahlke), the clever Sebastian (Axel Arens), and the musical Ferdinand (Michael Verhoeven). But the pre Christmas mood is dampened when their classmate Rudi (Michael von Welser) and his dictation books are kidnapped by rival students from the Kirchberg secondary school. The boys then ask their fatherly friend, the "non-smoker" alias Dr. Robert Uthofft (Paul Klinger), for advice. Uthofft, who lives alone in an old railway carriage outside the city, suggests a civilized duel instead of a class brawl, which later ends in a wild snowball fight - but also with Rudi's successful rescue. Back at boarding school, the boys are punished for their absence by their beloved tutor Dr. Johannes Bokh (Paul Dahlke) - known as "Justus the Just" - who sentences them to an hour of detention in his room. Bokh, who also attended the Kirchberg boarding school, tells them about his loyal childhood friend, whom he has sadly lost touch with and misses dearly. Martin and his friends have a guess as to who Bokh's lost friend might be. But that's not the only Christmas surprise in store.
