The story follows young Indigenous painter Brus, who believes he has found a way to help his community resist an oil company threatening the future of their ancestral land and culture in the Madre de Dios region of the Peruvian rainforest. His work premieres in Lima's most prestigious gallery, showcasing psychedelic visions of the Amazon by Indigenous artists. But Brus has no interest in climbing the career ladder; instead, he runs into a dead end caused by society's indifference toward his culture. As the oil company pushes its drills all the way into his village, spreading across the Sacred Land, Brus seeks support from a local NGO and becomes entangled in the subversive work of American researchers. He steps into the bizarre world of 'pioneers of development,' wealthy volunteers, and corporate strategists, where he begins to discover a way to strengthen his community.
