Plot:
Rapa Nui (also known in many western societies as Easter Island in English and Pascua in Spanish), is an island province of Chile, but in being 2,500 miles off Chile's Pacific Coast is one of the most remote inhabited places in the world. This documentary focuses on a few native Rapa Nuis, all of whom had left to live elsewhere and come back, who talk about the pressures placed on the island and their want and efforts to protect Rapa Nui while still embrace the best of outside influences. Many of those pressures are physical in whatever is brought onto the island *should* also be removed i.e. garbage and recycling. Some of those other pressures are cultural in many traditional ways and notions being eroded or lost completely, including its native Polynesian language, also called Rapa Nui. With these pressures, they talk about whether the Chilean government should treat Rapa Nui any differently than any other region in the country. The film is largely structured as a love story of the island by husband and wife filmmakers Sergio Mata'u Rapu and Elena Kouneski Rapu to their newborn son, Koa, the traditional Rapa Nui ways they don't want lost to him.
