Plot:
Also starring, Danny Miller is mounting a new Broadway musical, Swinging the Muses, based on the ancient Greek Goddesses, the nine Muses, who in myth, have overseen the Arts. Looking down from Mount Parnassus where the Muses reside, Terpsichore, the Muse of Song and Dance, not only vehemently objects to the musical, but most specifically to Danny's depiction of her, the show's lead character, that of a man chasing trollop. As such, she approaches Mr. Jordan, the Angel in charge of humans passing from Earth to Heaven, to allow her temporarily to go to Earth to help Danny make the show a success by starring in it as herself. In finding out as much as he can about Danny, Mr. Jordan does grant her request exactly as stated, with exasperated Messenger 7013 being her guide on Earth. On Earth, the collective also ends up using the services of equally exasperated Max Corkle, a talent agent who has a past history with Mr. Jordan, who is not visible to him. What Mr. Jordan may or may not be aware of is that Terpsichore has a sole mission not exactly as she had stated: to make the show as accurate as possible, staid Greek stories which may not sit well with modern, hip American audiences. While Terpsichore indeed does easily impress Danny to earn the role, she using the name Kitty (in seeing a kitten) Pendleton (the surname of Max's former client when he last encountered Mr. Jordan), they end up continually butting heads in their differences in the direction of the show. Regardless, Mr. Jordan will hold Terpsichore to their deal and her stated tasks, which is not only to make the show a success for reasons that Mr. Jordan has not told her has to be, but also that her stay be temporary which she may want to change to permanent as she and Danny end up falling in love.
