Having retreated to a weather-beaten cabin in the tangled woods of rural northern Greece for the past two decades, it is safe to say grizzled recluse Nikitas has severed ties with his wife and son. But there's nothing poetic about living in self-exile. And Nikitas is fighting a losing battle with a greedy mining corporation tearing up the virgin landscape, threatening his meagre possessions, and causing division among the locals. Then, to further complicate matters, his estranged son Johnny suddenly shows up at his doorstep, interrupting Nikitas' self-denying life of back-breaking labour. As pressing needs, past grievances, and pent-up emotions ratchet up the tension between the alienated father and son, bitter regrets and resentment inflame their uneasy, conflicted relationship. Now, there's no turning back. With the giant mining company stripping the land of its riches, will Nikitas succumb to temptation and accept defeat?
