Demetrius And The Gladiators

Picking up where The Robe (1953) left off, Demetrius, a defiant Greek slave who embraced Christianity, works as a potter in Rome after witnessing the martyrdom of his friends Marcellus and Diana. His quiet life is disrupted when the unstable Emperor Caligula becomes obsessed with obtaining the sacred robe of Jesus. As a result, a violent encounter with Roman soldiers strips Demetrius of his precious freedom, sentencing him to train as a gladiator. At the brutal arena, he catches the eye of Messalina, the seductive and promiscuous wife of Caligula's uncle, Claudius. Unable to understand the deafening silence of God, Demetrius gives in to lust. Will the proud former believer ever rediscover his faith?
