Convict Cal Lynch is about to be executed for killing a pimp. Following, he regains consciousness to learn that he is technically dead but is under the "care" of Dr. Sofia Rikkin, who, working for a foundation whose scientific work is led by her father, Dr. Alan Rikkin, has devised a new technology for one to be able to inhabit ancestors through links in their DNA.
