Plot:
While many Mexicans cross into the United States legally to provide much needed labor for the burgeoning agricultural trade in the southwest US, the migrant workers called braceros, both the United States and Mexico governments understand the problem that is the illegal smuggling of braceros across the border. These illegally crossing braceros, usually uneducated and unaware of the pitfalls, are at the mercy of the smugglers, are not provided the protection of the US government in not being in the country legally in they being "sold" akin to slave labor to a small number of unscrupulous farmers, and upon their return to Mexico to bring money home to their families are more often than not robbed and either killed or left for dead by bandits working for those same smugglers. Working on the file as field agents, Pablo Rodriguez with the Policia Judicial Federal in Mexico and Inspector Jack Bearnes with the US Department of Immigration decide to work cooperatively to stop the practice on both sides of the border, Rodriguez to go undercover as a bracero to discover the nature of the illegal smuggling, and Bearnes to go undercover on the US side of the border to discover how these smuggled braceros get work, their employers who would require official work permits. Going through different but similarly often precarious routes, Rodriguez and Bearnes come to the same point in discovering the small group who organize and lead this illegal activity led by a man named Owen Parkson. Without support in being in the field on their own, Rodriguez and Bearnes place their own lives at risk in being caught by Parkson and his band of thugs who are not averse to killing to protect their enterprise.
