Bellini

The video is inspired by a picture by Giovanni Bellini at the Gallery of Rimini. It shows a crucified Christ with his ribs bleeding, and his blood is presumably drawn by a nurse in the guise of a restorer. The work is a clear metaphor of the art of painting as a kind of language striving to find a full sense of its being. In this perspective Christ's body becomes the symbol of the human condition bound by restraints and limits in relation to the sum of Creation. On the whole, this video must be intended as a double allusion to the artistic process which successfully works on both the physicality of painting and of man.
