Bagdad Café

After a heated argument with her husband, Jasmin Munchgstettner from Rosenheim suddenly finds herself completely alone in the desert, somewhere on a highway outside Las Vegas. She checks into the "Bagdad Cafe," a run-down motel where chaos reigns. The place is run by the perpetually complaining Brenda, who has just driven her husband away. Brenda initially meets the strange stranger in the loden suit with undisguised suspicion. Gradually, however, Jasmin gets the place back on track, lovingly cares for Brenda's son, and proves she has a knack for dealing with the truckers who stop by. Above all, however, she captivates set painter Rudy Cox, who lives in a trailer on the cafe grounds. Cox falls head over heels for the feisty Bavarian woman. Brenda and Jasmin eventually become an unbeatable team and turn the coffee shop into a magnet for the entire area. But Brenda's tourist visa has long since expired.
