"Arithmetic, Population, and Energy" was the title under which Al Bartlett primarily lectured on the challenges posed by exponential population growth, consumption, and the depletion of raw resources, including oil. He delivered 1,742 such lectures, with the first one given in 1969 when the human population stood at 3.7 billion individuals. By the time of his passing, the global population had surged to 7.1 billion individuals. Over this period, he continually updated his lectures. This video, presented in English and consisting of several lessons, convincingly illustrates the mechanisms behind the primary environmental problems. It also highlights why genuine political solutions are often unpopular and, in reality, result in ineffective gestures.
