Brazil, Toa Toari reservation. Young French filmmaker Nicolas travels to an Indigenous village in the Xingu River valley to document the ancient tribal ritual "Kuarup." Under the guidance of Robert, in charge of the reservation, Nicolas and his inept assistant Ruben settle in the village. Nicolas quickly falls secretly in love with young Luacema, daughter of Chief Apuyu, and becomes increasingly involved in daily village life, partly to be closer to her. As he fully adapts to local customs, he becomes aware of the threat approaching from the outside world-deforestation. Apuyu explains the struggle against loggers responsible for destroying the rainforest. After several intimidation attempts, Nicolas and Apuyu agree that his camera can serve as a powerful tool. He films destructive activities by loggers and the villagers' efforts to defend their land. With the footage, they go to Rio de Janeiro, hoping to raise awareness among younger generations about the dangers threatening the environment. Due to his unfulfilled love for Luacema, Nicolas matures and discovers the strength of a hero who does what he can to support the entire Indigenous community. Through his experiences in the Amazon, he finds purpose in life and commits to fighting the ignorance and indifference that characterize our world.
