Plot:
In the near future, space travel is routine, but unexplained energy surges from Neptune cause chaos on Earth and other planets. Astronaut Roy McBride is assigned a secret mission, "Project Ad Astra," to travel to Mars and establish communication with his father, H. Clifford McBride, who vanished during the "Lima Project" searching for extraterrestrial life. Roy embarks on a dangerous journey to Mars, facing various challenges like asteroid storms and space pirates. He also reflects on his distant relationship with his father, a legendary astronaut more dedicated to exploration than family. Upon reaching Mars, Roy learns that the Lima Project might have encountered something dangerous in deep space. As he continues to the moon, he discovers evidence of extraterrestrial life that may have harmed the Lima Project crew. As Roy approaches Neptune, the surges intensify, and he reunites with his father on the Lima Project spacecraft. Clifford is disoriented and obsessed with contacting intelligent life, even if it risks human lives. Roy tries to convince him to stop the dangerous experiments. Roy realizes that the energy surges are linked to the antimatter power source on the Lima Project ship. He decides to take action to prevent further damage, leading to a life-changing decision. The movie follows Roy's journey of self-discovery, exploring themes of isolation, the search for meaning, and the complexities of human relationships. Brad Pitt's portrayal of Roy McBride adds depth to the character and makes "Ad Astra" an engaging blend of technology and personal introspection.
