Plot:
A Christmas-themed murder mystery set in an isolated country house during the 1950s. The schoolgirl Suzon returns home during the Christmas break. She is reunited with her mother Gaby, her younger sister Catherine, and her wheelchair-bound grandmother Mamy. They have a conversation about the family patriarch Marcel, who is thought to be still sleeping. Suzon's lonely aunt Augustine attempts suicide and the elderly Mamy jumps out of her wheelchair to stop her. The other women notice that Mamy is faking her disability. A maid takes a tray upstairs to Marcel's bedroom, and she finds Marcel dead in his bed. There is a dagger in Marcel's back. Catherine insists to have the bedroom locked until the police arrive. The women realize that the guard dogs did not bark the night before the incident, indicating that the killer has to be someone familiar to the dogs. Marcel's estranged sister Pierrette arrives for an unexpected visit, claiming that she was summoned by a mysterious telephone call. There are 8 women in the house, 6 are members of Marcel's family and two are female servants (Madame Chanel and Louise). Each of them is a viable suspect for the murder. With the telephone lines cut and the family car having been sabotaged, they are all forced to remain in the house during a winter storm. The women spend their time trying to identify the murderer among them, and they start confessing to some of their dirty little secrets. Stating with the fact that Suzon is not Marcel's actual biological daughter but his stepdaughter. And that Marcel has been sexually abusing her for years.
