Tim Avery (Jamie Kennedy), a cartoonist and family guy, has a tranquil life with his wife Tonya (Traylor Howard), their dog, and their baby boy. Both the dog and the infant use their talents to cause mayhem after the inquisitive dog discovers a mask with magical qualities. As Tim and Tonya attempt to limit the damage, the crafty Norse god Loki (Alan Cumming) arrives in search of the item, causing further disasters that finally bring the deity's strong father, Odin (Bob Hoskins), to bear his vengeance.
